I guess I should start with the good news. I received my grades and was pleasantly surprised; 1 A and 3 -A's. The grading system in France is out of 20 so it's a little strange at first. The French like tp say that only God recevies a 20. School is extremely competitive so a 10 is an acceptable grade. Scary, I know, but it makes sense when I thought about it from an education standpoint.
In other news, I started my second semester. I tested into a fairly good level, but I am definitely one of the most competent in the class. The first thing that my professor told us was that we were going to get a lot of 9's and 10's. Apparently, a lot of people leave in tears after receiving grades, so she wanted to prepare us. I have to admit that this was a still a little intimidating, even for a veteran like me. After seeing the newbees coming in this semester, I can definitely see how much I have improved.
